Illinois Fighters Against Fascist Overreach is dedicated to fighting, peacefully and lawfully, to keep our democracy.
What we believe
The circumstances are dire. Our democracy is at risk of slipping away and being replaced by an authoritarian state. Many institutions, businesses and elected officials are failing to rise to the moment.
We believe in the power of people to stand up, take action, and hold those in power accountable.
What we do
IL-FAFO fights to demand bolder and more creative action by Illinois state and local officials. And minimally, we demand that they do the jobs they were hired or elected to do.
- Police departments must investigate violations of Illinois law by ICE agents, including the murder of Silverio Villegas Gonzalez and shooting of Marimar Martinez.
- State’s attorneys must prosecute these crimes to the fullest extent of the law – and not as misdemeanors.
- State officials must step up when local police and prosecutors lack the courage or conviction to do their jobs.
