Illinois Fighters Against Fascist Overreach is dedicated to fighting, peacefully and lawfully, to keep our democracy.

What we believe

IL-FAFO believes the circumstances are dire. Our democracy is at risk of slipping away and being replaced by an authoritarian state.

We also believe that institutions, business and elected officials are failing to rise to the moment.

What we do

IL-FAFO fights to demand bolder and more creative action by Illinois state and local officials. And minimally, we demand that they do the jobs they were hired or elected to do.

·      The police must investigate violations of Illinois law by ICE agents, including the murder of and shooting of

·      Prosecutors must prosecute these crimes to the full extent of the law – and not as misdemeanors.

·      State officials must step up when local police and prosecutors lack the courage or political will to do their jobs.

IL-FAFO fights to hold accountable Illinois businesses and institutions that have betrayed democratic values in the name of self-interest or profits.  

·      Law firms must not volunteer millions of dollars in free legal services to advance any government’s policy objectives (Republican or Democratic)

·      Universities must not permit the federal government to dictate its policies or operations in exchange for grant money

·      Businesses must use their platform to advocate against non-democratic policies and the scapegoating of vulnerable populations
